a beautiful beginning: payton reese’s birth story.

to say this was quite a convenient birth, would be an understatement. maura’s induction was one of the easiest i’ve heard of. i mean literally i got the “im 5-6cm” text, left for the hospital by 12:15pm and was back in my living room by 5pm. how crazy! when i got there she was all alone, very calm and comfortable. she’d just sent the family to lunch and was chilaxin thinking she had at least a few hrs ahead. about a half hour after i arrived she started to feel some good pressure, but to her knowledge she was just 6cm. the dr checked her and sure enough, COMPLETE!! a quick call for rob to get his butt back upstairs and the scurry for the nurses to finish their lunch, she was ready to push. with less than 10 sets, payton was in her arms, perfect as ever. and within a half hr she had a big ole pink flower headband on to match big sis. already a diva…i LOVE it!!

my favorite part about birth’s is whether i know the mama close or not, my excitement is still through the roof. to see family race through the doors, tears pouring out of eyes as everyone sees the new addition for the first time, there’s nothing like it. giving birth is such an amazing experience and i am so happy i could capture it for you. it was great to see all the cagney family together and on cloud nine. taylor and kameron are going to be excellent big sisters!

ps. i’m looking forward to see how much payton’s changed in the fall for your family session 🙂 peace, melanie.
